GARMENT PRINTING

Printing on Black

Digi-T is one of very few direct-to-garment printers who can deliver high-quality prints on black, using white ink. It is a bit more expensive though, so if you’re on a tight budget, rather get white or light-coloured shirts.

Printing without white ink means the colour of the fabric will be visible through the print, therefore only white fabric will yield true colour. As it does not require additional white ink, this is a very economical option.

Artwork containing white and light colours on black

Print with white ink

In order to print colour on black/dark/bright tees we put a layer of white ink down first and then colour ink on top.

In the image used on black tees, artwork can be set up to print the white parts or it can be transparent so that the colour of the shirt shows through. This mage is a colour image with a white ink base and colour over it.

In this image the white parts in the image is transparent and shows the colour of the garment.

Any art that is lighter than the t-shirt colour will require a layer of white ink otherwise the print may not show.
